Treasure Chest

We've got a truly excellent selection of old Austrian wines, all made by the world-famous Stift Klosterneuberg, the monastic property which doubles as Austria's wine research institute, and which has been making wine for over 900 years. We don't have any quite that old, but we do have a good selection of wines dating back to the 1960s following our recent raid on the Monastery cellars. The wines listed here have all been tasted in the recent past, and were found to be good. Everything here is recommended by those in the know at Klosterneuberg as being in good condition - the selection was made from a wider list following a review of tasting notes made during a tasting in June 2007. Both indigenous Austrian grapes and international varieties are represented here. What is particularly interesting is that quite a few of the sweet wines are in 75cl bottles - most unusual by today's practice, as most sweet wines are now sold in 37.5cl or occasionally 50cl bottles - full size stickies just don't seem to be made any more. These wines make really great gifts, and are remarkably affordable for something really rather unusual & special.  We only hold small stocks of these wines and some may be available only to special order.  Delivery of these wines may not be subject to our normal delivery service, and we ask you to contact us prior to ordering to confirm availability and delivery options.
