	Mixed Cases We believe in offering you the flexibility to choose whatever combination of wines you want from our range. You can make up your own DIY case, or you can pick one of our many ready-made mixed cases. Pricing for DIY cases can be calculated simply by adding up the individual bottle prices - when ordering in our on-line shop, this is calculated automatically for you. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like free advice or help regarding the selection of wines for a mixed case. If you tell me what kind of wines you like or dislike, I will suggest the composition of a case for you. In addition to the DIY route is our range of ready-made mixed cases. If you're not sure exactly what you want, but know what style of wines you prefer, or would simply like to sample a cross-section of our wines, one of these is a good place to start. All ready-made cases contain 12 bottles of 75cl unless stated otherwise. Please note that the composition of ready-made mixed cases may change over time; our range of wines is dynamic, changing as we make new additions, as stocks of some wines are exhausted, and as new vintages are released. As these changes are made, this site will be updated to reflect them. So please check the latest contents of a case prior to ordering, especially in the case of repeat orders.

We offer a wide range of mixed cases of Austrian Wines, in 6-bottle and 12-bottle versions, and with a variety of themes. These are a great way of getting to know the wines from this outstanding wine-producting country, steeped in history and culture as it is. As the idea of a sampler case is to offer you the chance to try a wide range of the wines, what I have done in most cases is to compose each case with all different wines. A mixed case of superb Austrian wines for summer. Case contents - one bottle of each of the sparklers, plus two of each of the other five wines.

Sparkling - a couple of great sparklers to celebrate summer with....

A luscious Muscato from the 2010 vintage, made by Günter & Regina Triebaumer in Rust in Burgenland. Ref: 4330097 £14.40. This stuff is heavenly - and at just 7% alcohol, makes the ideal lunchtime bottle.

Slightly more esoteric is the new season Schilcher Sekt from a new supplier - Weingut Langmann, in St. Stefan/Stainz in western Styria. Ref: 4350030 £18.60. A lovely pink fizz made with the Blauer Wildbacher grape - fantastic stuff, very rare outside Austria, and delicious.

Whites:-

Dankbarkeit Weiss 2009 Josef Lentsch Podersdorf/See. Ref: 4330083 £9.90 This is the white house wine served in Josef's restaurant in Podersdorf. It's not widely available outside the restaurant - production is small, and most gets used in the restaurant. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this stuff - it's a blend of 45% Pinot Gris, 30% Neuburger, and 25% Pinot Blanc, fermented in oak - 50% of it spends some time in new barrels, and the other 50% in used barrels. That this is no ordinary house wine should come as no surprise to those of you familiar with Josef's other wines. It's got superb body, works well and flexibly with food - especially freshwater fish - and is built to last a few years. The 2009 vintage of this wine is quite delicious, and it's very well priced.

Grüner Veltliner 2009 Erich Altenriederer Traismauer-Wagram Ref: 4391008 £10.80 A super classic GV offering fantastic value for money. This wine is made by Erich Altenriederer at his estate in Traismauer, which is on the south bank of the Danube about 5 miles east of Krems.

Riesling Lössterassen Kremstal DAC 2010 Walter Buchegger, Droß, Kremstal Ref: 4310010 £16.20 A lovely example of a fine Kremstal Riesling. Fresh and fragrant with fine citrus and stone fruit aromas, reflected on the plate with a precise and lively acidity. 12.5% ABV. Drink around 14-15 deg C with pork, chicken, asparagus, fish & seafood. Quite outstanding.

Sauvignon Blanc 2010 Weingut Breitenfelder, Kleinriedenthal, Retz Ref: 4380035 £11.40 Pure varietal fruit character with typical with elder flowers and citrus. Balanced, juicy and alively wine which goes well with fish, salads, and white meat dishes. Drink well chilled - fantastic summer wine.

Reds:-

Zweigelt 2009 Erich Altenriederer Traismauer-Wagram Ref: 4391009 £10.80. The new vintage of Erich Altenriderer's Zweigelt - the wine that Oz Clarke listed in his "250 Best Wines" guide for 2010. He doesn't make it every year but he did in 2009 and the wine is a great success. A dark brick red, with spice, nutmeg, pepper and earth on the nose. On the palate it's a juicy sappy wine, with spice, cherries, and dark berry fruit flavours. You can chill it as you would a mid-weight Beaujolais which makes it a great summer wine. Good length, gamey and spicy. An excellent value Zweigelt.
